Storyline: Camp counselors are getting ready for summer camp but someone is not happy about it being re-opened. Slowly counselors are being slaughtered one by one before opening day.
Review: Sex, drugs, booze, slaughter, welcome to Camp Crystal Lake. This is my favorite series of all horror movies so this one is close to my heart to review. We have the beginning and the reason why Jason Voorhees comes into a teenage killing rage for so many years after.
The movie is based around the re-opening of Camp Crystal Lake (Camp Blood to some) after it was closed for so many years due to a drowning and some counselors getting slaughtered. Steve Christy (Peter Brouwer) is a young horny hippy (his connection to Adrienne King’s character Alison is open to debate) starts working on the camp and invites the counselors to show up early to finish some work on the camp before the kids come. Big mistake someone is pissed that it reopened again. Before you know it we have slit throats, shooting arrows, spears, axes to the head (classic scene from Jeannine Taylor’s character Marcie) and good ol’ machete chopping time!
The highlight and freakishness of the film comes from Pamela Voorhees (Betsy Palmer) and her driven madness due to the loss of her son Jason. Her tiny boy voice “Kill her, Mommy! Kill her! Don’t let her get away, Mommy! Don’t let her live!” sends shivers up your spine and sets the tone for the film’s finale.
Rating: It’s Camp Crystal Lake we have Jason, Pamela, boobs, weed, booze, blood and rusty panties. Enough said.
