Review (Spoils): Ok to start this review heads up to anyone out there that would have an issue of real animal butchery. Just skip this film if this bugs you as this film is the real deal. Move along to something not as graphic as this film does not really rely on gore but on the horror of people themselves invading another cultures environment. We see the true ugliness of the documentors and the impact that they have by crossing the line of what is morally right. It makes you think who is the true monster of the film? This film holds all types of hype and some of it true that the sex scenes were real (including the rape scene..even though she is not tribal woman in real life) and even the director Ruggero Deodato regrets making the film and wishes that he did not do it because all the disgust that hangs around the film. There was even a rumor that the three main actors signed contracts to hide from society for one year so that the realism of it would be more true (something Blair Witch tried to steal). This film is really shocking and not for the weak of heart not due to the cannibalism but due the torturing and graphics scenes that the three documentors created. There is some great graphics that are not real like the impaling of the woman and the when the actual tribesman have revenge. But like said before if you cannot get past the above than just pass on this film.
Rating: This film is a well known horror film due to being banned and for the actual director Ruggero Deodato being placed in prison for it. Keep in mind in this film it is very raw, some of it very real and its main statement is to shock on who horrifying Harold Monroe (Robert Kerman), Jack Anders (Perry Pirkanen) and the more innocent Faye Daniels (Francesa Ciardi)
