Review (Spoils): Seeing this film a long time ago I thought I would revisit it for the review. This movie is different than the others in the series. We have young Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton) who moves into the old house on Elm Street from the first movie (along with his family). This movie plays on a number of things when it comes to Jesse, is he confused on his sexuality or is he just shy. The movie really does not go into this detail much but some of the scenes do make you believe that it is leaning towards the sexuality. But anyways he gets nagged by Freddy (Robert Englund ) and actually kind of gets possessed by him to do his bidding (such as slaying teenagers). We have Lisa (Kim Myers) who plays the cute redhead rich girl interested in the strange Jesse and helps him with his internal battle of Freddy. The film plays off the typical Freddy haunts, finger knife slashing, long green tongues and run away buses. The change in this film from the first one is Freddy is not seen as much and it seems Jesse is the killer and he is trying to deal with that. Sure we got some gore but the cool scene of the film was when Freddy cuts his way through Jesse’s body but outside of that the film was sort of flat.
Rating: Not sure if it was the lack of Freddy in the film or if it was just too different then the past one. This film just missed the mark. There was just too much time wasted on Jesse himself and just too much filler in the film with him and his friend Ron (Robert Rusler). The movie was lacking when it came to excitement plus there was too male nudity compare to female and we never did get to see Kim Myers! This is one of the more lacking films in the Nightmare series.
