The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Director: Daniel Myrick, Eduardo Sanchez
Main Stars: Heather Donahue, Micheal C.Williams, Joshua Leonard
Storyline: Three film students go missing into the woods of Maryland as they were making a documentary of the local Blair Witch legend.
Review (Spoils): The film is all about emotion and creepiness. It works off of fear and the stripping of defeat with one’s self when lost and terrified. Three students in the woods trying to tape a documentary on the legend of the Blair Witch, slowly one by one their wills are broken as they get lost in the dark, hear sounds, wooden branch dolls, screaming sounds, children laughter and lots of running in the woods. The film works off of being terrified and it does work. The movie is original for its time and great a huge cult following and even got a spot on tv to make the audience feel that it was really and the students were really were missing.
Rating: This is one of the original films done with a video camera that many copied after. If you do not mind lots of talking and shaking camera work with your haunting film this is for you. I recommend all horror fans to at least check this out once as it is a classic for being one of the first for the video camera type film. Not the greatest film or most terrifying as many claim but it is worth checking out.
