Shawn of the Dead (2004)

Shawn of the Dead (2004)

Country:  USA

Director:  Edgar Wright

Main Stars:  Simon Pegg, Kate Ashfield, Nick Frost

Storyline:  A man wants his ex-girlfriend back and also deals with a whole town where the dead have come back to life.

Review (Spoils):  Shaun (Simon Pegg) has a lot of bad luck he has a mix match relationship with his mother and he really wants his ex-girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) back. Well when he decides to this what he does not know is that the world is overrun with zombies! So Shaun and best friend Ed (Nick Frost) decide lets save the world and get Liz back.

That is about it for the storyline but wait…… it works! The connection between Shaun and Ed is classic. This horror humour at its best as it takes the two dummies so long to figure out something is going on in the world.  The movie really is a romantic comedy of sorts with a nice touch of gory zombies. Some of the movie works like Dawn of the Dead and is an ode to it but this is really the start of the whole zombie come back of this era.  The relationship and the acting of this film are by far between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for the best.

Rating:  This is a must see for comedy fans and horror fans alike. This is by far one of the better films of that year and a great bring some friends over and drinks film.

8/10 Beers!
