Blood Feast (1963)
Director: Herschell Gordon Lewis
Stars: William Kerwin, Mal Arnold, Connie Mason, Lyn Bolton
Storyline: An Egyptian carter kills various women to use their body parts to bring back a dormant Egyptian goddess.
Review: Bring on the crazy plot lines, terrible acting and over the top gore! We have the crazy wide eyed Fuad Ramses (Mal Arnold) who runs a catering business and he is running through Miami into ladies apartments and such and chopping off pieces of their bodies. Why is he doing this? Well to raise the goddess Ishtar of course! Where does the story get in-depth? Well Mrs. Freemont (Lyn Bolton) wants him to cater a party for her daughter Suzette (Connie Mason). This leads to more deaths and the finale where he is trying to sacrifice Suzette to Ishtar for the final part of the ritual.
We have fun times with body parts in this one as we have stabbings in the eye, machete chopping, brain ripping, tongue pulling and some defacing. This one has the cheesy over the top gore for fun and shock. The downfall of the film is the acting and the plot does play pretty silly.
Rating: This is a B movie straight up but it can be entertaining in its own way. The film is silly but it worth watching as it is a classic when it comes to cheap thrills and low budget. This blood in real color (love that line) and why not raises a glass to the great goddess Ishtar?
