Attack of the Crab Monsters (1957)
Director: Roger Corman
Main Stars: Richard Garland, Pamela Duncan, Russell Johnson
Storyline: Trapped on a shrinking island and over ruled by brain eating giant crabs!
Review (Spoils): A small group of scientists travel to an island to explorer the effects of nuclear weapons. They become trapped when their plane gets destroyed for some unknown reason.During their investigation they come across that they have been left stranded because of brain eating yet intelligent colossal crabs. Even one of them speaks in a French accent.
The movie is a cheap 50s monster drive –in film which is great to watch once in awhile but the speaking crab drove me nuts it was beyond silly. Yes this film is not to be taken serious but the voice was painful to hear. Yes it is a Roger Corman classic and the crabs themselves are very interesting but if they would off left the voices off it would have been better.
Rating: This is a classic sci-fi horror B film. If you can get past the lame voice and the cheesy ending you should be ok for a campy monster film.
