Chopping Mall (1986)
Director: Jim Wynorski
Main Stars: Kelli Maroney, Tony O’Dell, Russell Todd, Barbara Crampton, Karrie Emerson
Storyline: Teenagers trapped in a high tech shopping mall are being hunted down by security robots.
Review (Spoils): A group of crazy teenagers who all work at a local mall decide to throw a party in one of the stores. The mall goes into security locked down while they are having the time of their lives which then the robot security guards then go out and try to get rid of all the intruders. This is all caused by a crazy lightning storm which strikes and causes all the janitor staff to die and caused the robots to go nuts.
We have killer robots, young hormones, some burning teenagers, explosions, lasers, someone falling to their death and some cheesy electrocution. This film screams 80s and some bad acting to boot.
Rating: Man do I ever hate robots in horror films. Don’t get me wrong I love Star Wars but I don’t like them mixed. The film was ok for what it was which was cheesy teenage fun in a mall. Think Dawn of the Dead but with robots and not even nearly as good. The film need more babes and less lasers.
