I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957)
Director: Gene Fowler Jr.
Main Stars: Michael Landon, Yvonne Fedderson, Whit Bissell
Storyline: A bad boy teen uses hypnotherapy to help him with his aggressive behaviour which changes him into a teen wolf.
Review (Spoils): Tony Rivers (Michael Landon) is a troubled teen he likes to fight and does want any help from anyone. Even his girl Arlene’s (Yvonne Fedderson) parents dislike him and they wish he would start to show respect. Arlene gets caught in a middle of fight and poor Tony hits her by accident and then he realizes he must need help. He goes to meet a Dr. Alfred Brandon (Whit Bissell ) who wants to try an experiment on him for his temper. What the experiment actually does is release the anger in a new form….. werewolf form!
We have murders, some screaming, some teenage werewolf in a school jacket and a young Michael Landon.
Rating: Not sure if the point of the film was leaning on teenage sexual energies but this film was not horrible. This was I believe the first of the “teenage monster series” and one of the better of them all. This is not a bad monster drive-in film so grab some beers and enjoy.
