Prom Night (1980)
Director: Paul Lynch
Main Stars: Leslie Nielsen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Casey Stevens
Storyline: A masked killer haunts a high school prom
Review (Spoils): Some high school kids have been keeping the hidden secret of the death of a young Robin Hammond and their connection. But someone else also knows their secret and saw the whole thing and is now 6 years later planning revenge on the little ones death.
The storyline is pretty simple someone witnesses the death of the little girl and now wants the kids that were involved to pay….pat at the high school prom. The film has a person in black roams around breaking mirrors, ripping out yearbook pictures, stabbing with glass, a nasty axe, and a catwalk beheading. All in all the film can be slow and some of the killings scream’s 80s.
Rating: Not being a huge fan of Jamie Lee Curtis I was on the fence with this one before it started. The plot seemed pretty basic but descent but it was hard to picture Jamie Lee Curtis as a high school student in this. Plus it is hard to take Leslie Nielsen serious. Some believe this film to be a classic but for me it falls flat from the classic and it’s just a mediocre horror film.
