My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)
Director: Patrick Lussier
Main Stars: Jensen Ackles, Jaime King, Kerr Smith
Storyline: 10 years after a Valentine massacre a young man is being blamed for the murders.
Review (Spoils): Remake time has it my site yet again, man we really need to get through the million horror remakes. This time we have the remake of the Canadian classic My Bloody Valentine but this time with some American style. We have the mining town of Harmony when a drilling accident causes the mine to collapse and slowly some of the miners are being killed with a pick axe. On Valentine’s Day they have a party in the mine and crazed man goes nuts with a pick axe and kills 22 people. The survivor of the mining accident was the murderer and he gets killed by the police.
We fast forward 10 years later a young Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles) returns back to Harmony (he was the reason the mine collapsed) and he starts to get blamed as the murders start to happen again. Is it the original madman Harry back from the dead or is it Tom or someone else? That is pretty much the crazy storyline.
We have pick axes, mining masks, some good gore and poor acting. If it was not for the bloody scenes this film would fall flat period. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a horrible film and its stands to the first one but the ways the killer uses the pick axe he should write a book on the many useful ways of a pick axe. Oh and there is some nudity!
Rating: I have seen worse remakes so this is not bad. The kind of knew the script would be lacking as it was in the first film too. I was surprised by the gore in this one did dish out as it is way gorier then the first. I have seen some reviews from others on this film saying it is just graphic killing just to be graphic… and you’re complaining about what here?
