Phantasm 3 (1994)
Director: Don Coscarelli
Main Stars: Reggie Bannister, A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Angus Scrimm
Storyline: The hunt continues with Mike and Reggie tracking down the Tall Man.
Review (Spoils): Mike (A. Michael Baldwin) and Reggie (Reggie Bannister) are being haunted yet again with the nightmares of the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm). They continue their battle against the Tall Man’s odd servants and the flying silver balls of pain that the film is known for.
This film gives us way more flying silver blade balls that slam into people’s faces, more yellow ichors, special effects of the Tall Man, some nice 80s electricity scenes, nunchakus, explosions, guns and some creepy little people that work as servants of the nightmarish and yet unexplained Tall Man.
The film is entertaining yet again as this film series is classic and not bad but it still falls short on explaining itself. It is almost like the series really does not know what it is about. But it banks on its cult following. The special effects are actually not that cheesy and the film flows through but yet again the series has no answers.
Rating: The series has not aged well as this third entry is very late 80s and 90s as you can tell. Come on we have a female fighter who looks like Grace Jones with some nunchakus. But saying that we still hold the original character and their journey up against the evils of the Tall Man and the mysterious cult that follows him. This series has not died yet!
