The colonel son named Curt (J. Trevor Edmond ) finds this out and he and his girlfriend Julie (Melinda Clarke) get involved in a motorcycle accident on the way home. Julie is pronounced dead so Curt takes her back to the lab and brings her back to life. What Curt learns is she is not fully the same woman that she was before the accident.

This film series had a rough go when the part 2 came out so I was not expecting a lot from this film. If you can get past the cheesie beginning this film is actually not bad. The film has character build and the gore is actually pretty damn good and over the top. This is a gory tale of true love and the Julie character is sexy but yet gory and deadly and she is definitely a memorable horror icon in my books. We have flesh eating, chewing, cool zombies, some drill scenes, the sexy zombie babe Melinda Clarke, some nasty cuts and of course the classic impaling scene.

Rating: This series has risen back to the ranks of the first film. I actually liked this film enough that I would place this into rotation in my horror collection. If you’re a horror fan and have not seen this film it is a must see at least once as it is a classic for the series.

Beyond Re-Animator (2003)

Beyond Re-Animator (2003)

Country: Spain

Director: Brian Yuzna

Main Stars: Jeffery Combs, Tommy Dean Musset, Jason Barry, Elsa Pataky

Storyline:  Hebert West is back from jail and now works as an assistant as he continues with his experiments of bringing the dead back to life.

MV5BMTQwNTA1NTU5MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzk5MDUyMQ@@__V1_SY317_CR6,0,214,317_AL_Review (Spoils): Crazy Hebert West (Jeffery Combs) has been serving 15 years in prison for his crimes in the past films. While there he was continuing his mad experiments on rats bringing them back to life while a prison MD named Dr. Howard Philips (Jason Barry) asks him to become his new assistant. Howard falls in love with a young journalist named Laura (Elsa Pataky ) and while this is continuing as usually West’s experiments go out of control.

Bring on the gore yet again for this one in the series. The Re-Animator series has never lacked on the blood, gore and zombie stuff and like the others it has lots of humour and does not take itself serious. Jeffery Combs yet again impresses as his by far best character in his horror career and the special effects are actually real good for the budget they had. Brian Yuzna did a great job with this film and it reminds me a bit of Peter Jackson’s Dead/Alive which is a great thing.

Rating: When you have a rat-fighting-penis scene then you know you have accomplished something in horror. It is great to see Hebert West back on the screen as this is one of the best when it comes to horror series.  Plus we have hottie Elsa Pataky!!  So let’s drink to that crazy Hebert West!!!

The Dentist (1996)

The Dentist (1996)

Country: USA

Director: Brian Yuzna

Main Stars: Corbin Bernsen. Linda Hoffman, Michael Stadvec, Ken Foree, Molly Hagan, Patty Toy, Christa Sauls, Joanne Baron

Storyline: A dentist catches his wife having an affair and he goes off the deep end.

MV5BMTk0OTEzMzYxNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzMzNjIyMQ@@._V1_SY317_CR3,0,214,317_AL_Review (Spoils): Dr.Feinstone (Corbin Bernsen) discovers that his wife Brooke (Linda Hoffman) is having an affair he losing his mind. He sees that underneath the perfect life there is a bad and sad tale, like white teeth underneath there is decay. He starts to extract his anger through his patience.

What’s more fun than a horror film based around the dental chair? We have a man in distress and filled with hate over his wife so this leads to dead dogs, some bleeding gums, some sleeping (under gas) fondling, strangulations, some nasty tooth pulling, tongue cutting, stabbings, needles and some more tongue fun. Nothing screams fun like a trip to the mad dentist.

Rating: This film is fun. It hits a point where a number of people dislike or even hate, a trip to the dentist. Brian Yuzna did a great by not going too over the top and stayed to the point that it is all about the dentist and his disillusion of his wife and lover in all his patients. The symbolic attachment of the white teeth and decay was a nice touch. It is not the greatest horror film but a memorable one and it starts to carry on to a series after.

Review (Spoils): Dr. Herbert West (Jeffery Combs) and Dr.Cain (Bruce Abbott) are working on creating life from dead tissue by using tissue from wounded soldiers. Lt. Leslie Chapham (Claude Earl Jones) figures out something is up when body parts start going missing. During which Dr.West gets rid of the snoopy Chapman and brings him back with the serum. This leads to Gloria’s death, they use her head and the heart of Meg (Kathleen Kinmont) and other parts of women to make the new type of woman that represents his past girlfriend.

This is a great sequel to awesome film. Lots of gore and blood and fun just like the first film. Once again Jeffery Combs does an awesome job as the mad doctor and even are even graced by the beautiful Fabiana Udenio. This film did remind me of the classic Frankenhooker but yet better.

Rating:  Another Re-animator classic film for the series. Not as great as the first film but I love the way the horror and the comedy mend together to make a classic series.  Drink up for the bride!
