The first tale is called Old Chief Wood’nhead. This about a tale of a couple who owns a store in the desert near some native territory who are not doing so good with business. They keep a close relationship with the natives and they have a large wood statue of chief on there front porch. When the chief of the nearby tribe rewards them with special jewels the statue comes to life and becomes a protector. We learn this after a group of teens try to break into the store and we have hatchets and arrows flying.

The second tale is the best one of the series called The Raft. A very simple story of some teens who head out to the lake to smoke dope and come across a floating tar like spill that just happened to enjoy human flesh. A fun blob like story that involves some serious stickiness.

The last and final tale is called The Hitchhiker. This story is based around a woman who is not afraid of affairs and when racing back home to her husband she hits a road worker and leaves him for dead. Well it turns out he returns to haunt and thanking her for the ride.

Rating: The film itself could have used another story, three seemed a bit too short. The second tale is the best one which I believe was a Stephen King short to begin with. We have some nudity and we have some gore so cannot really complain.

Creepshow (1982)

Creepshow (1982)

Country: USA

Director: George A. Romero

Main Stars: Hal Holbrook, Leslie Nielsen, Adrienne Barbeau, Stephen King

Storyline: A number of stories of horror from a 1950’s comic book.

MV5BODIxNTUwMzYwOF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwOTU3MDcxMQ@@__V1_SX214_AL_Review (Spoils): Five tales of horror from a 1950’s comic book come to life on the big screen. The first story is “Father’s Day” which tells the tale of a grumpy rich father who was murdered by being smashed in the head with a marble ashtray. He rises from the dead demanding for his Father’s Day cake. He gets his revenge even after death. This one has some gore.

The second story is the tale of “The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill”. This brings Stephen King on the screen as a hillbilly lonesome man who comes across a fallen meteor. He gets some green glowing stuff on his hands and he slowly starts to become a plant like creature.

The third story is “Something to Tide you Over” which brings a man Leslie Nielsen tormenting a woman and another man with video of them one by one buried to their heads in sands and slowly drowning. This leads to some salt water zombies having their revenge on the Leslie Nielsen.

The forth story is “The Crate” which is a tale of murder and science. A scientist wants to murder his drunk and annoying wife (Adrienne Barbeau) so he lures her to a special crate which contains a ape like creature.

The final tale is “They’re Creeping up on You” which deals with a ruthless boss who has a phobia over bugs. This leads to a massive bug fest at his place and a gory finish.

Rating: This is a classic and there are not too many short story horror films that match this one. The cover is a classic that is very memorable to my childhood and the stories and mostly memorable. They tried hard to match it with sequels but the first one is still the best.
