Psycho 3 (1986)
Director: Anthony Perkins
Main Stars: Anthony Perkins, Diana Scarwid, Jeff Fahe, Roberta Maxwell
Storyline: A month after the last movie Norman Bates re-opens the motel again.
Review (Spoils): Only a month after the last film Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins,) re-opens the motel and the fun begins almost right away. He starts to get bugged with reporters (Roberta Maxwell), poor musicians (Jeff Fahe) and a woman (Diana Scarwid ) who left the convent and I guess thought it was a good idea to have a relationship with Norman. Well mother gets all pissed off again and people start to get killed off.
We have the normal creepiness of Norman Bates as he is still collecting dead animals, we have some flashbacks and ex nun who looks like one of his first kills, a nice dead mother, creepy mom voices, peeping toms, slit wrists, lots of knife stabs, blackmail, a nasty impaling and of course some more background story on Norman himself.
The series is running out of ideas and I’m not too sure why Anthony Perkins directed this film instead of someone else. Mother foes over board in this one and there is a lot more communication going on from the dead. We learn a bit more on the history of the crazy Bates family and the finally really learn what set him off in the first film.
Rating: I’m going to be honest this series is not bad overall. Being the third film in this series of was expecting a hell of a lot worse. We are lacking in the gore with this one but the story trying to get into the mind of Norman and explaining some of the reasons why Mother has issues brings the series to a nice close. I would personally watch all 3 of theses in a row it would be a good drinking session.
