Final Destination 3 (2006)
Director: James Wong
Main Stars: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ryan Merriman, Kris Lemche, Alexz Johnson, Gina Holden, Chelan Simmons, Crystal lowe, Amanda Crew, Esctasia Sanders, Maggie Ma, Jesse Moss, Sam Easton
Storyline: Death tries yet again to knock some teens on a roller coaster ride but they have a vision and escape so now death is pissed.
Review (Spoils): The storyline is pretty much the same as the last two. We have the young beautiful people of Hollywood in a film in which they are all having fun and a teen has a vision and does something to save people for the disaster happens. Death gets pissed off because it got cheated so it starts to knock each young person off on by on in order of sequence it should of happen.
A roller coaster ride is involved in this one, lots of gore, clues on how people are to die, lots of blood and the CGI is semi okay but it is noticeable unfortunate. James Wong is great and you can tell he had his hands on this one as we reinvented the same wheel from the first film but the twist of death actually playing a game with the teens is a nice interesting twist.
Rating: I’m going to be honest when I first watched this film I was not expecting much as I normally hate Hollywood horror films and being the 3rd in a series I thought it would be lacking. It actually was not bad for the 3rd film in a series. It’s entertaining and the deaths are laughable….so grab some beers and enjoy!
Final Destination 2 (2003)
Director: David R.Ellis
Main Stars: A.J. Cook, Ali Larter, Tony Todd, Lynda Boyd, Keegan Connor Tracy, Justina Machado, Sarah Carter, David Paetkau
Storyline: A vision of a major highway pile crash brings another group into the grips of death.
Review (Spoils): Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) is in the mental hospital due to the last film where her friends survived the airplane a crash but death got them in the end anyways. A girl named Kimberly had a vision of a highway crash involving a log truck and she believes this might similar to what happened before. They discuss how everyone who did survive the fatal accident later on is on death’s shit list and he comes after them in order.
Very much the same as the first film we have a crazy accident, this time a nasty highway accident, then it’s a dream, then it really happens and then some survive and death wants them dead anyways one by one. We have a gas overdose, glass splatters, elevator decapitation, sharp pole to the head, barbed wire death, van crashes and a blowing up barbeque. Oh and the shadows of death.
Rating: Some shit just a group of teens and deaths. The death this round are even more outrages which makes the film hard to enjoy as they are some very out of the world kills. This could have been a Japanese horror film with the crazy deaths. This is just not as good as the first film as it now is becoming repeative to the point of annoying.
Final Destination 5 (2011)
Director: Steven Quale
Main Stars: Nicholas D’Agosto, Emma Bell, Arlen Escarpeta, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Miles Fisher
Storyline: Someone has a vision of a bridge collapse and cheats death with his fellow friends and co-workers. Death feels cheated and wants revenge.
Review (Spoils): We are at number 5 with this series and the storyline is about the same. Someone has a vision and freaks out and escapes death and then death hunts them down in order with accidents. This time the opening is a bridge accident in which it collapses and people tumble to their death. Yes the opening was cool but they really need to stay away from the cheesy CGI effects (some of the effects were bad during this scene). We have such classics of the film such as impaling, burning flesh, bad eye surgery (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) she’s a babe, gun shots and even a good ol’ mechanical hook through the face. The storyline is the same as the other movies but that is not a surprise but some of the kills are unique and different. The ending of the film was nice touch as it brings you back around to the first film. I just wish they would watch the CGI and make sure it is done right on all deaths.
Rating: This series is fun and that’s what it is suppose to be. Yes it has to come to an end and if this is really the last one they did it right. Love the AC/DC “If You Want Blood” sequence as they go through the best of. That alone is worth the drinking too.
Final Destination (2000)
Director: James Wong
Main Stars: Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith
Storyline: A teenager has vision of him and his friends dying on a flight. He prevents them from the tragic accident and now death is haunting them down.
Review (Spoils): Alex (Devon Sawa) board’s a plane and gets a weird graphic vision about a plane crash and all are involved in it. He freaks out and he and some of his colleagues get exhorted from the flight and lord behold it crashes. Death is not happy and he is coming back and knocking each one off one by one with freak accidents in the order of the plane crash vision.
This is a great storyline and it was unique. The graphic intro vision of the plane is over the top and it keeps you on the edge of the seat. Yes this movie screams teenage type film but we are outside of the cheesy lines and love stories and more into “how are we going to escape death”? The acting is average but the whole point of the film is graphic over the top accidents which makes this film a classic for its time. We have hangings, brick smashing, bus smashing and a nasty shard of metal flying. The series is known for its nasty kills.
Rating: This is the first of a unique and great series. The opening sequence is one of the best accident scenes out there and the storyline of death is coming back to take what was stolen from him is a great idea.
