Krampus (2015)

Krampus (2015)

Country:  USA

Director: Michael Dougherty

Main Stars: Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Conchata Ferrell, Krista Stadler, Emjay Anthony, Stefania LaVie Owen, David Koechner

Storyline: A young boy wishes for things to be like old times for Christmas, Krampus grants his wish.

Review (Spoils): Young Max wants an old fashion Christmas and writes a note and it gets read out loud at the dysfunctional Christmas dinner. This prompts Krampus to appear that night and grant his wish. One by one the family Christmas gets ripped apart so that poor Max will be happy.

First off its spring why this film now? Well I have a young family I try my hardest to get this horror films in whenever I can. This film is like Gremlins meets Pumpkinhead with a nice touch of one liners and comedy. A nasty winter storm is background scenery of this film while we have hoofs, monster goblin elves, stabbing candy canes, creepy clowns, harpy angel dolls, killer teddy bears and the classic gingerbread men all on the hunt in the name of Krampus. Oh and of course the man himself in all his long tongue and massive horned glory. A nice chocking of Christmas lights and some interesting scenes as Krampus grabs the children one by one but do not expect a gore or blood drive in this one. the film had enough scenes that was action packed but was expecting a lot more of the horror.

Rating: This film was not as dark as I thought it was going to be. I was expecting more jumps and some red stuff but instead we had some character build, one liners, the beautiful Toni Collette and the best part of the film the killer gingerbread men. This could of used more blood….

Trick r’ Treat (2007)

Trick r’ Treat (2007)

Country: USA

Director: Michael Dougherty

Main Stars: Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Lauren Lee Smith, Moneca Delain, Quinn Lord, Leslie Bib, Samm Todd

Storyline: Five stories that all happen on the same street on the same night.

MV5BMTMyNjczNDAzMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDg3MDc0MQ@@__V1_SX214_AL_Review (Spoils): We have a modern day Creepshow film with this one. We have five tales of events that all happen on the same street on the same night. We have an intro that sets the mood when a woman who hates Halloween gets her dues when she shuts it down before the night ends.

T he first tale is known as The Principal in which a young boy who steals all the candy at one house learns a powerful lesson of being a gluten. The house is owned by the principle and he poisoned the child and the tale goes on as he tries to dispose of the body. This is a very fun tale and it has its funny moments and of course our introduction to the classic child with the feedback over his head known as Sam.

The second story is called Surprise Party. A short tale of a group of girls in which one is a virgin and they go to a costume party. It comes down that there is more to the girls’ then meets the eye and the tale intertwine with the first tale. Cute little Red Riding Hood tale…

The three tale is called The Halloween School Bus Massacre which a haunting tale of a eight handicapped children that were chained to a school bus and brought to their death because their parents could not deal with them anymore.

The fourth story is called Meet Sam. This is what happens when our main character Sam runs into a grumpy old man who hates Halloween. The ending of this tales then weaves all of them together which makes the movie quite joyful.

Rating: We have blood, babes, werewolves, vampires, virgins and candy! This film creates a new villain named Sam which is creepy, unique and the storytelling works. I’m normally a little hesitant on the multiple tales movies but this one actual is good. Sure it is no Creepshow but it has opened my faith that this type of film can be made again and not suck.
