The Innkeepers (2011)
Director: Ti West
Main Stars: Sara Paxton, Pat Healy, Kelly McGillis
Storyline: Yankee Pedlar Inn is supposed to be haunted and two employees are trying to prove that it.
Review (Spoils): Yankee Pedlar Inn is slowly closing shop and two employees Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy) are bound that they will prove that the place is haunted by a ghost. Luke sets up a website with camera so they can cash out on this setup at the hotel. All fails and Claire becomes addicted in finding out that the place is haunted as Luke faked the whole thing. In Claire’s search for the haunting she becomes close to an ex actress named Lee Reese Jones (Kelly McGillis) who just happens to be able to communicate with the dead. So they try to talk and reach the ghost of Madeline O’Malley.
Overall the acting is good and the Luke character is funny but there just was not enough to keep my attention. The scares were very lacking and gore does not exist in this film. Sorry but this film failed when it came to holding my attention. If it was not for Pat Healy I would have been bored out of my skull.
Rating: Sorry Ti West but this film was boring and not scary at all. There was too much fucking around before it got to the point and for that I lost total interest. Good idea but it fell flat due to lack of scares and threat to the characters.
