The colonel son named Curt (J. Trevor Edmond ) finds this out and he and his girlfriend Julie (Melinda Clarke) get involved in a motorcycle accident on the way home. Julie is pronounced dead so Curt takes her back to the lab and brings her back to life. What Curt learns is she is not fully the same woman that she was before the accident.

This film series had a rough go when the part 2 came out so I was not expecting a lot from this film. If you can get past the cheesie beginning this film is actually not bad. The film has character build and the gore is actually pretty damn good and over the top. This is a gory tale of true love and the Julie character is sexy but yet gory and deadly and she is definitely a memorable horror icon in my books. We have flesh eating, chewing, cool zombies, some drill scenes, the sexy zombie babe Melinda Clarke, some nasty cuts and of course the classic impaling scene.

Rating: This series has risen back to the ranks of the first film. I actually liked this film enough that I would place this into rotation in my horror collection. If you’re a horror fan and have not seen this film it is a must see at least once as it is a classic for the series.

Puppet Master 3 (1991)

Puppet Master 3 (1991)

Country: USA

Director: David DeCoteau

Main Stars: Guy Rolfe, Richard Lynch, Ian Abercrombie, Aron Eisenberg, Sarah Douglas

Storyline: Set in Berlin WWII we learn more of Toulon and his connection to the Nazi of Germany.

MV5BOTkwMTE2NjM0MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjI0NTYzNQ@@._V1_SY317_CR0,0,214,317_AL_Review (Spoils): The movie plays on a history report on the creator of the puppets Toulon (Guy Rolfe). During WWII the Nazi created a formula to bring the dead back to life so they would have the ultimate army. This leads to maybe Toulon being a Nazi dissident who leads to an investigation and raid and the death of Toulon’s wife (Sarah Douglas). Toulon seeks revenge and uses the formula to bring the toys to life to bring them down.

This builds into the history of the puppets themselves and Toulon. It explains a bit more on the formula itself and brings the wrap around from the first film and the second one. The story has depth and also introduces the master’s wife and the puppet named six shooter (not one of my favorite puppets). The film is an important part of the series too because it gives the birth of each puppet that we have seen in the first two films.

Rating: This is a nice little prequel the series as it explains a whole lot of why the whole series even exists. The madness behind Toulon and the reason of the puppets to begin with, don’t expect awesome acting but do expect some drilling, some blood and a nice little war story of the puppet master himself.
