Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)

Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)

Country:  France

Director:  Christophe Gans

Main Stars:  Samuel Le Bihan, Vincent Cassel, Emile Dequenne, Monica Bellucci

Storyline:  in 18th century France a mysterious and murderous beast is haunting the lands.

Review (Spoils):  Something is stalking the mountains of France and the king has hired some men to kill off the Beast of Gevauden. The beats attacks and kills women, children and nobody has had chance to take the beast down.

The film is beautifully done, the settings are original and perfect for the timeline of the film. The characters such as Gregoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and Jean Francois (Vincent Cassel) take the film but the main star is the special effects of the beast itself which we have no idea what is. The film tells the tale that it is a massive wolf but superstition changes that to a more dramatic beast. The movie relies more on storyline then fright and to be honest it more like a mystery then a horror film. But it is different and it involves a werewolf monster so here we are!

Rating: Vincent Cassel plays a great creepy villain and a memorable one. This film is different it is a mix of art, literature and a good shot of horror. This film might not be for all horror lovers but I actually enjoyed this film for what it is.

6/10 Beers!
