The Quiet Ones (2014)

The Quiet Ones (2014)

Country: USA

Director:  John Pogue

Main Stars:  Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Olivia Cooke, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck Byrne

Storyline:  A professor and his young team work on experiments on a young woman trying to uncover the dark secrets of her mind.

Review (Spoils):   Jane (Olivia Cooke) is one messed up young woman who was left and taken by the professor to help her. As we learn she has a hidden entity inside her mind that comes out and lashes. The professor (Jared Harris) and his young horny team, work with him as they explore the mind of Jane.

This film tries hard on the jump scares, we have flickering lights, voices, a doll, some nudity, a young female assistant that seems to be sleeping with everyone, a horny patient, some weird entity coming out of a mouth, some pagan stuff, some body harm, lots of needles, some bad CGI when it comes to certain pieces of it and oh the typical flying through the air stunts.

Rating:  Going to be honest not sure if the point of this film was for the audience to find out who the real monster was, was it the professor or was it Jane. The film started slow, it started to pick and felt good and then the whole pagan storyline shot it down the drain. Sure, Erin Richards was a hottie, but it was not enough to hold this story mess together. The scares, which were not scary and to be honest you really do not feel anything for any of the characters. Plus, enough with the hauntings and dolls, it kind of been done. The film was holding better with the body flying flip and the Blair Witch camera work at one point and but then it all went to pot.

4/10 Beers!
