Carrie 2: The Rage (1999)

Country: USA

Director:  Katt Shea, Robert Mandel

Main Stars:  Emily Bergl, Jason London, Dylan Bruno, J. Smith-Cameron, Amy Irving, Zachery Ty Bryan

Storyline:  A young women loses her friend but still gets picked on, so she uses her powers for revenge.

Review (Spoils):  Young Rachel (Emily Bergl ) lost her friend and the only one that she felt cared was the young in-crowd boy Jessie (Jason London). Even with close connections to Jessie the torment of not fitting in continues. Rachels has powers of the mind in which she has kept secret to many. Once things get out of hand, she uses to them to make payback a bitch.

This film is yet again another teen like horror film which haunted the era. Sure, we have cheezie teenage issues and one liner and the typical heart break, so nothing strays far here. The connection of the first film is tried to be written in including flashback as they try to bring back the Sue Snell character. This whole thing does fail though as it just feels low and rehashed.  Is this Emily Bergl fault? No not at all as she fit the part it, it the long-winded teen crap and the terrible vine lines make up that makes this less scary.

Rating:  Took me a long time to re-watch this one. I am not a remake fan but at the same its sucks to have a sequel that does not do much outside the last film except change the timeline. There just is not enough meat and potatoes in the film to make it even close to a memorable classic plus it is hard to stand up to the original film. Maybe if they did the film is a spirit type thing instead of just re-doing the almost the same storyline. Not sure but prob the best would have been to just be left it alone.

4/10 Beers!
